Kevin Vallade

Name: Kevin Vallade
Hometown and Years in Teton Valley: Norwalk, Connecticut; Lived in Teton Valley since 1999

Personal Details (family and hobbies): I am a professional ski patroller for Grand Targhee. I like to trail run in the summer and ski almost every day in the winter. My two favorites are my girlfriend, Corey, and my dog, Burdock, who also works at Grand Targhee as an avalanche dog.
I like long walks on the beach and deep powder days!

Why did you want to become a firefighter?: I have always liked helping people—being a ski patroller for 11 years got me into that, and firefighting seemed like the next logical step. A friend suggested I go to Station 1 for the Combat Challenge. I did and every since I was hooked! I enrolled in the Fire I class, took EMT training, and the next thing I knew, I was covering shifts. I love the work and the people. Every day is a different challenge and I am so glad I got involved in it. It makes me a better person.
